Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering whether anyone knows whether there's a GM part that's equivalent to the Croma's rear spring.

I searched on the Croma ePer and I think the part code is 51751800 but I don't know how to check whether other manufacturers use the same / similar parts.

The car's in the garage at the moment having just failed an MOT and they can't get parts for a few days.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi all,
Found what looked like an equivalent part for the Signum but the garage won't fit it in case it might not be identical.

In a way I can sort of see where they are coming from but they believe that their factor would've known that the Signum and Croma parts are the same and suggested that as an alternative if it was available. Given the rarity of Cromas personally I think that is quite a leap of faith.

However, caught between a rock and a hard place (again) so I guess no option but to leave it with them and wait for the big bill. Again.

Mine were some Swedish brand (can't remember now), ordered from a local auto factor and I collected them the next day. It was a pound or two under £100 for the pair. I just ordered springs for a Fiat Croma, didn't bother trying Vauxhall equivalents. The sticker on the box just said Fiat Croma, and didn't give any other models.

They're absolutely fine, and it handles much better now. The bottom few coils had snapped off both of the original springs. They may have been snapped when I bought the car, so can't do a like for like comparison, but there's no need to buy the ones with a Fiat logo on the box.

Hi Doofer,
Thanks for coming back to me.

They think they'll be able to get them in the next few days but I guess my search for a decent garage around the west of Glasgow continues....

I asked them to check the part number on the springs so I could confirm the GM equivalent but they told me there weren't any. Oh well.

Purely guess work – but I’d try a search based on Vectra-C Estate or Signum springs. Put the question to a local factor (e.g. Unipart 0141-339-3041?).

I enquired of a local Vauxhall outfit over a Croma job quite recently, & the result was disappointing – they were insistant they’d still have to use FIAT parts.

Manu's that `spring' to mind Apex, Eibach, KYB ...

Just noticed your `previous' - Arnold Clark, Paisley were in top10 of Motor Codes Golden Garages competition
