Brembo Calipers issue..

I have just converted my Fiat Bravo SX 1.6 16V model with fiat coupe 20Vturbo engine/mainshafts/hubs/calipers etc etc..
so far it is brilliant but i have a slight issue with my brake system.
The original SX brake setup consists of front standard calipers (2pot) and at the back the standard brake drums/wheel cylinders.
I converted the car with fiat coupe 20vturbo brakes (4-pot Brembo at the front)and at the rear using the standard coupe's brake setup but I am using the same Bravo's 1.6 16v brake servo (no abs) this resulted that the pedal at some times feels a bit 'spongy' and is not safe for a sudden brake.
I am sure that bleeding was done successful.

I am afraid that the standard bravo's servo is not capable for the 'new' setup on the car, am i right?

Any hints please? is it worth converting to Coupe's 16V turbo discs/calipers or maybe the Bravos HGT type with 2 pot type and forget Brembos? and what about the wheel hubs are they all compatible?

Your opinions are much appreciated!

Noel

In general the servo is just for increasing the sensitivity and the ease of the brakes, it multiplies the force. The main part is the brake cylinder that pushes the oil to the brake calipers.
A spongy pedal is in 99% of the cases air in the system. Do a new bleeding of the brakes but with the car on the floor not raised, if its raised the rear distribution valve is not 100% open and can retain some air in the system.
Also it can be that one or more calipers have a bad O-ring on the piston and constantly sucking new air in the system.

Thanks Sven,

infact bleeding was done with the car raised! my calipers where not in use for about a year and it could be the case that the pistons still have to work more to loosen a bit (so the travel will be more softer).

So you think that my current brake servo is capable for the new 'kit'?

I wish to hear someone who converted the car with the same specs i did...

In the meantime appreciated your advice and will do the bleeding from scratch without raising the car..

Many thanks

Noel

I do not have Abs on my car my friend.. :( its a 1.6SX model and not HLX, that's why i am afraid that my servo is not capable to handle coupe's 20vturbo brembo calipers..

thanks

Noel.

i was thinking about the rear brake compensator..it might be the case that the coupe's compensator works in a different manner than the bravo's one..

noel..
