they only fit a new ecu if there are no keys at all or if the ecu is broke, 2 very good imo fiat techs have stated that no red key is needed for a service, 11.000 members have never posted saying "help i cant get my car serviced because i have no red key" you saying that it is needed is only going to put people searching the forum off buying the cars
so if someone has a fiat which uses this system, then basically you are saying, dont liston to him,buy the car and if the car goes wrong, then its only £800 to put right.officially, you are supposeed to give the dealer the red key and a keycard or tab showing a code number for servicing.they will service the car without it,but any updates or repairs to the ecu or CL will be very expensive because they cannot reprogramme the fitted ECU.no doubt once again, this will be deleted.quote;- "the truth is out there, but we cant tell people this for fear of scaring them off buying fiats":(

you still need a master red key and code key card if the ecu or c/locking needs reprogramming.please stop hiding this fact.
this forum with the moderators has a responsibilty to tell the bare facts to members where ever they are.buying and selling such cars with or without the red keys is important to know the facts.if buying one without the red key.pay accordingly.its not the end of the world.keys can now be got much much cheaper.and mostly now, cars are not serviced within the fiat dealerships anyway.but if the ECU needs reprogramming, the key is NEEDED.:)
