I wish the tuning companies (Angel, Celtic etc.) did a very inexpensive mild map to help improve performance a limited amount, improve economy and also keep 100% reliability. Of course it wouldn't be worth £300 odd but I am sure many people would be happy to pay £50-£75 for such a thing - which otherwise would be zero revenue for such remappers.

Probably just me that dreams for it though :( I just know that I am unwilling to pay hundreds for something that although quite cool, would impact on reliability for an unnecessary gain. Conversely I would't want to pay hundreds for a mild game. Not sure why the remappers haven't tried such a concept, it would broaden the sales massively, probably increase word of mouth, lead to people wanting to upgrade from their first "taster" remap and so on. When an item such as the computer and software is a fairly fixed priced item, unless it is being utilised 100%, any additional sales would be of benefit even for cheaper, milder maps.

Sure they know better though!
 
doesnt matter how much you get from a remap, your right foot decides if you use it. if you dont trust your own foot just get a remap and adjust your accelerator pedal screw so you cant fully open the butterfly valve when you put your foot down. remapping wont really affect reliability except in the very long term if driven hard.
 
It's more than that though, it's about having to be in the 100% correct gear all the time otherwise flooring it will just slip the clutch with a reasonably high map. The accelerator in the JTD 100 is fly by wire also (so just a switch) I doubt the screw makes any difference at all, if the range used is lower I presume the ECU just assumes the maximum range is smaller and hence smaller motions on the resistor allow bigger power changes.

So if any remappers are out there and want to offer me a very mild map for a very low price, they know where I am ;)

no it wont, trust me, the ecu doesnt automatically perform a learning procedure for accelerator pedal travel, it cant because such a procedure doesnt exist. if it did and you drove like a granny, eventually you'd end up with full throttle with very little pedal travel. there's obvious safety implications there :)
 
Then why have any form of pedal back? I would be surprised if there was no range adjustment built in to the pedal. It would just see the maximum point pressed to continuously and within a limit, accept that is the maximum. If somebody never floors it ever it would be firstly out of adjustment limit range and also never show a flat line of resistance which is the maximum met, it would see numerous normal values.

Even way it's not a point since even if you have 50 pedal travel you could easily slip the clutch with a high spec remap just by flooring the car in 4th at 30 I imagine.
 
My car is yet to taste a remapp but the one it is going to take is the same has the 130R and it does not need nothing more to maintain the reliability and engine health. Fortunately the engineer that remapped the 130R is still working and very experienced. Bravo JTD´s engine is a very god and safe playing machine :D

I have some other doubts but probably i should post for each one or do you nice people can help me here? :confused:
