Speed Signal

Hi Andy,

i need to know were in the 98 Bravo HGT is the
Cable to get the Speed-Signal for a Navigation
System. It must be a Signal from or to the
ECU / Gearbox / ABS.

Does someone have the Electronic Circuit Diagram
to find the Wire Color out?

Thanks

Oliver

Re: Speed Signal

If you mean Sat Nav it gets it works out the speed of the car its self, distance over time. There is no need to plug anything in to it. I think this is what you are asking but I am not sure. If it is not please rephrase your question as it is difficult to understand.

Sat Nav

Navigation systems work using GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) system and do not require any speed input from the vehicle.

There are many after market (3rd Party) systems available. Blaupunkt do a nice system that is the same size as a normal 1 DIN headunit (Replacement fascia would be required) and incorporates CD/Radio and Sat Nav.

Hier ist die Deutsche version

I mention these because they are simple to fit and require no modification whatsoever. It also proves that the advertising they stick on the walls of the urinals in service stations work, because that's where I first saw them advertised (South Mimms) !! ;)

There are many more out there, some with flip screens that pop out of a 1 DIN HU, and some with stonking great LCD panels that mount on your dash. My recommendation would be to visit your local ICE (In Car Entertainment) dealer as many of them now deal in Sat Nav systems. Get some specialist advice.

Hope that helps. Use this site http://translation2.paralink.com/ to translate into German if required :)

Speed Signal

Hi,

i need the Speed-Signal Cable for the Navigation System.
The Navigation-System will not work without the wire
from the Speed-Sensor / Impuls.

Re: Speed Signal

I think we better wait for Tom on this one ;)

Re: Speed Signal

Hmm.. not something you'd really want to do, if you **** up you'll really screw the car. Does it tell you what it expects the speed signal to be like?

If it just changes the volume of the thing can't you just live without it?

Re: Speed Signal

Ah, is Oliver talking about the volume of the Hi Fi adjusting with the speed of the car ?

I have experienced this feature on Peugeot 307's and a few others and it is quite handy, but I would imagine it being a bugger to do after market.

Re: Speed Signal

My JVC head unit does that but it senses the noise from the alternator as that is engine speed dependant. :)

NO wiring! ;)

Re: Speed Signal

I still don't understand why you want this for your navigation system, like someone said they run from GPS signal, if you had a big enough battery your could use one when walking around if you wanted, it doesn't need anything from the car.

Re: Speed Signal

the speed signal just makes it more accurate.
my punto hgt as sat nav. it takes its signal from the dash.

Re: Speed Signal

I find it hard to believe it is more accurate, seems a bit overcomplicated to me I guess. Even if it is more accurate why bother?
