As post really, the only change to the engine etc is a rear box, I shouldnt think that would make it sluggish.

In 2nd today it reached about 5-6,000 revs and just went flat, seemed a bit sluggish getting there too.

There was a fiat 4X4, not sure of model but I found it difficult to keep up with it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is a 1999 155 bravo

Re: HGT sluggish, any ideas

My hgt did this then i changed all filters incl fuel filter and what a difference !

Sound to me like it the maf sensor.

Common thing on the HGT to go. How many miles has the car done, year of car???

I would go and get a diagnostic done to make sure but the simtoms are similar to a maf going. You can try and repair using Sven's guide or buy a new one (expensive option).

@Richard - Mk2 HGT don't have a fuel filter. I know this as I spent 2 hours looking for the thing that didn't exist :(

Free attempt at a fix.......

You could try an ECU reset by disconnecting the battery's negative strap for 1/2 an hour and then see what happens.......

MAF. mine went at 60k. change it and it will fix it. if it doesnt i'll give you £1000.

In that case try these chaps

Its done 80,000 miles.

I'll change all filters, wont look for a fuel filter tho, save me a couple of hours looking for one ;)

I'll see what happens then.

Thanks
Mike

To save a bit of cash.... this might work.

Take out the MAF sensor, and give it's insides (the parts you can see) a very careful clean..

If that dont work, you'll probs need a new one.

My 155 was playing up a few weeks back.. power dropped at 5k... cleaned the MAF, and all is fine again..
