bravo cd changer

Hi all i've just bought a bravo 80sx and been told that the stereo is a grundig and it so happens that i have a grundig mcd 40 cd changer from another car any one know if this is compatible with the grundig stereo? and is the cd cable fitted as standard in the car (damned if i can find one!!

The radio was designed for a 6CD - changer, Grundig Model.
I know for sure the MCD 36 works, seems to me this type should work as well when it's a 6CD model. I was told as well there should have been a cable, but there wasn't.. but cable came with my cd - player.

Cd Changer

I have a '97 1.6SX Bravo, and the lead is fitted as standard, so it should just be a matter of plugging it in, but the nice people at Fiat have their own type of connections so the only people who can supply a CD changer to fit it is Fiat. This currently cost GB£325 !!!!!!!

This is what I have been told, does any one else know if it's possible to connect anyother type to the standard FIAT stereo?

I bought my cd-changer of a friend with local audio-store , saved me GBP 60 ! It can be worth wile to look around before you buy it at Fiat.

Cd Changer Question..

Hi Rudolf,
I assume that you still have the standard Fiat Stereo in your car. Did you have no problems fitting the CD changer? I spoke to one of the biggest suppliers here but they say they would be unable to get the connectors for the Fiat stereo.

Anyone else get a CD changer for the standard Fiat Stereo?

I happened to have friends with the right qualities, someone else hooked it up for me. But he didn't seem to have any problems : standard radio, standard cabling and cd-changer.
It worked from the first moment on.
try to find the cd-changer on the internet !

BIG SAVING and info for Pete MC

I have done some checking, and I can buy an MCD36 from Gundig Car Audio direct. Fiat charge GBP325, Gundig charge
GBP145(+17.5%VAT, Total approx £170) About half price!!!
Unfortunatley they have none in stock and the waiting list is 6-8 weeks, but for that saving the wait is worth it.
Fiat are such a rip off!!!

Also, the Gundig guy says the MCD40 won't work as the Fiat stereo only has contol for 6.
My opinion is that the MCD40 will still work but you will only be able to play the 1st 6 CD's which I'm sure is no problem.

Hi guys thanks very much for your reply's to my original message i'm very impressed and grateful!!
it's great to no that there are people out there who are willing to help others out.
since i posted the message i've had some great help from a guy i know in southern ireland who runs a small car stereo repair business ( J.K ELECTRONICS) based in cork.
he has supplied me with a gadget to turn the standard manual central locking into remote central locking takes 30 seconds to fit and works a dream!!
also he's sorted me out a second hand mcd36 cd changer for 90 punts (around 72 uk pounds) a great deal!! when a fiat one is 325 quid!!

Could you get me the number of J.K Electronics...I'd be interested in Buying a MCD36 even if 2nd Hand. There is
no one in the Belfast area who sells the and if I can get it from Cork then I won't have to wait 2months to get one from gundig!

Why not do what i did

I dumped the original Fiat radio and bought a facia panel from Fiat (£18) to enable fitting of a standard head unit.
Telas then supplied and fitted a Sony head unit (40W x 4) and 10 disc CD changer for £300.

Great sound and i didn't even bother changing any of the original speakers.
