hi normally when i put the key in and turn the ignition on i here the fuel pump powering on and i get a keycode light on my dash none of this is happeneing for some reason im also getting no spark its as iff the engines electrical system has failed all that has happend in the space of it stop working is the battery was off for a bit what could it be

immobaliser not recognising the key by the sound of it

do you have the red key ????

yes same problem when i use both keys like i said it was all working the other day i have had troubles with the car recently meant mention in my first post that yesterday i relcaed the ignition module that is the only thing that has been replaced the battery was disconnected to do this (just for safety) i would say it was off for around 1 hour and 30 mins. i thaught if immobiliser wasnt recognising the key the code light ould stay on it is as iff the engines electriacal system is not powering up hen i turn the key

i had the same problem wth my coupe 20vt , i had to use the red key, try just turnin the igniton on and off 3 tmes then on the forth try to start it, and do it a few times

try putting the old igntion module back on , to rule the new 1 out

ok thankx for your help what as causing your problem in the end m8

"i had the same problem wth my coupe 20vt , i had to use the red key, try just turnin the igniton on and off 3 tmes then on the forth try to start it, and do it a few times"

Just tried doing that and it makes the red light in middle of dash light up whats that mean?

Quick Update: Just Tried Switching Module back no difference

could the battery not having enough power cause this? thinking battery may be dud

hi, im not sure but sounds like it is tryin to recognise the immob chip in the key, you deffinatly need the red key,
thats the only thing i can think of cos that is used to reprogramme your other keys ,

you use the red key then you put your blue key in and then that will work all the time

if the fuel pump is not priming then its probably a power thing.

If its a battery thing, none of the dash lights will come on, not just the key light.

Makes sure you connected the battery properly if you removed it.

If you have changed the module, make sure it connected properly, otherwise its not going to activate the the ignition.

Simple things i know, but if it was the imo, then all of the above, lights, fuel pump would be come work, but as stated the key light would stay on and the car just would not turn over.

hi i have tried with both the red key and the blue key several times and im getting nothing checked the module all connected properley and checked all the fuses everything seems ok my head is a bit messed up with it dont know what else it can be

I have the same car 1.8hlx i have none of the original keys but have a few copies of the blue key. The other day i had a knock on my door late at night as the car was making a strange beeping noise... turned out to be the cobra alarm systems battery low warning tone this had come on because the main car battery was dead, i turned the ignition and no lights what so ever not fuel pump noise stuck the jump leads on and sorted...

My guess is check your battery try jump leads from another car to see if you have power then..

thankyou will try this but i am getting some lights on the dash Handbreak, oil, airbag and battery light up when i turn on ignition

i do have a vauxhall corsa c aswell so i will put jump leads on to that tommoz n see if it helps

Ahh so you have some lights from reading the above posts i assumed you had none what so ever, id probably pull every single fuse from under the drivers side there should be 2 or 3 places under the drivers side where the fuses are and also 1 fuse box in the engine bay behind the battery.. check for blown fuses and replace if any other than that get a diag done what year is you HLX as it'll either be the diag plugs which are in the engine bay on the fuse box or the OBD connection under the drivers side... should be no more than £20-£30 for a diag check yellow pages for mobile auto electrician in you area and be sure to specify if its the OBD or probe plug style no point them coming and not having the right kit and some dont..

I had that problem 1 night, altho i was at a g/f's at the time (not in that car) and had a phone call off sis at home at 12pm saying its beepin lol

jumped started next day and all was fine :)

Some alarms are clever like that
