Just got back from holiday after three weeks, and my bravo started but the injector light was showing , i bought some redex put it in and it seemed to sort the problem for a couple of days, but now it turns over as usual but will not start, it doesn't even try to start, it has plenty of fuel and never had and problems starting prior to this, any ideas? it's parked on the other side of town so even a temporary fix just to get it home will do until i have money to repair it.
oil is fine change 4000 miles ago, have not changed the air filter nor the spark plug/leads since getting it could it be this? help PLEASE!

Thanks Ash

could be a dead battery, with all the crap weather we have been having and not being used for 3 weeks, can you get it jump started or bumped? give it a good run see if you can get some life into battery, or charge it :)

RE. Bravo 1.6sx not starting - HELP!!

thanks for your response, battery is fine and turning the engine without problem... the engine is just not firing.

thanks again

Ash

could be a faulty starter motor, or could just be the fuel cut off switch, under the passenger seat there is a cut off switch, try pressing this in, worth a try before you get a mechanic out

Talking about crap weather, could it just be dampness shorting out your electrics. Try giving them an all over dose of wd40.

i have tried the fuel cut off switch, it did click but still no joy, just the same, engine turns over as normal so i guess it isn't the starter.

i disconnected the fuel lines under the bonnet and tried starting it and not even a drop of fuel came through. i have checked the fuse for the fuel sender unit and that's fine.

do you think spraying the electrics with WD will help in regards to getting fuel to the engine?

and more ideas would be gratefully recieved

thanks

Ash

Ash, having re-read your post, no I don't think the wd40 would do it duh!

Can you hear the fuel pump starting up when you switch on the ignition? May be a dodgy pump that finally gave up the ghost.

if you have no spark or fuel its a problem with the fuel cut off. if you have spark but no fuel just wire a 12volt feed to the fuel pump to get it running.

also under the bonet there is a black cover on the centre of the scuttle with two thumb screws take them off and there is relay behind it. when you turn the ignition on this should click and turn on power to the fuel pump if it doesnt then thats the problem.

is it a mk1 or mk2 1.6?

After a major operation in February I was not allowed to drive for 12 weeks, so my baby stood idle for all that time, except for when my stepdaughter moved it across the car park once.

Whe I was able to drive she wouldn't start.
Called Mr AlphAlpha. Because of the short running time when my SD moved the car the engine was flooded.
He boosted the battery and cleaned/dried the plugs and away we went.

I'd get the battery checked first.
Mine would turn over quite fast, but not fast enough to start until I fitted a new battery. Not had any problems since :)
