Seen a Y reg Brava for sale and am thinking I might buy it good idea or bad? The guy wants £400 I recon £300 is more realistic as MOT is up in April as is tax.

Personally I'd offer full asking price if they're willing to re-MOT it, at least then you'll know you've a year of trouble free motoring all being well

Depends on condition, history, model spec etc.

£3-400 for a car won't get you much. I wouldn't expect it to be any good, esspecially if the seller isn't renewing the MOT. For the sake of £40 to the seller, why would they not if it was in good nick?

I'm not sure the guy does not want to renew the MOT or is just selling to make a few quid?

Update:

The guys wife owns the car and is selling as she has a shoulder problem so has bought an automatic. the battery is flat so needs a jump start so am going to check it again engine is clean body work and sub is free of rust etc and sound so it all depends on the test drive now.
