Hi

Sorry if this is a bit long, but I think it all relevent.

Model - Fiat brava 1.4sx P reg
Current problem - car whas not fired for three days.

I am getting a spark and petrol injected.
On the odd couple of occasions it has made a feeble attempt to fire.

Ive been checking all the electrics
The pot on the butterfly valve in the carb is giving unexpected Ohm readings for a potentiometer.
IE inner two contacts - 2K - 1.4K across most
of the sweep
Outer two contacts - starts at 1.67k then almost immidiatly goes to 2k and stays there.

Does any one know what it should do.

A bit of car history on this subject.
Ive had the car for about 5 years. The car on the few odd occasions had the problem where car will not start one day for no apparent reason but fine the next.
I think this is different, not sure why, apart from the fact that it still hasnt started, even with battery dis over night.

The middle of last year my car went through a deep puddle in the road which soaked the inside of the engine. Took about 5 days to dry it out and get it started. water got in most of the connectors including lower ECU.

It run abit shakily for about 3 months. the last two it has been much more responsive. A very occasional kickback occurs.
I did buy a new cat but havnt got round to putting in on yet.

Thanks for your perseverence and help
steve

Sounds like the potentiometer has gone off its scale, have you been fiddling with the big screw that is under the accelerator pedal by any chance?
