anyone in the glasgow area know of a decent garage that will service & change cambelt for a decent price for Brava 1400 r-plate,Regvardy want £446 quid for it saying its a 4 hour job @ x amount per hour and to be honest id rather scrap it than pay that amount for a service,ps i got problems with brakes as well,in that they dont stop u from any speed, cant even get it to skid,i put new shoes in the back, front pads are ok,and caliper is moving ok & piston, just brakes are crap and have been for a few months now

I say change your brake fluid and make sure that they are bled properly.
shame your so far north, I know a guy whos gonna do my bvelts and tensioner for £80 :s

u lucky sod,i cant get no one to to the cambelt, they all say goto fiat incase theres a problem then u have some comback, but i aint giving no one that kind of money for it,maybe its time to go back to trusty old vauxhalls

i got my 1400's cambelt and tensioner done a couple of months ago for about £130 locally. didn't do a service as i do that myself, but i think he'd take about £70 for that.

yes done that,on looking at all pads & shoes i would say the back ones are doing all the work as the front show plenty left, last years mot it failed on brake bias distribution, front was something 25% where the back was 75%,they stripped calipers and all that and it passed, brakes were good after that but started declining a few months after that

Err.. surely then you have answered your own question.

If it was bad before and messing with the front callipers made it better but now its bad again then surely the callipers are the problem.

Get some new ones.
