I recently bought a T reg Brava SX 1.2 which has a strange idoling problem.

When I bought it , it would stall at the lights but wasnt much fuel in it.

Was told to take it for a tune but the guy at tuning place said if engine management light was out it probably would be pointless.

I went and put £30 worth of fuel in it and it ran great for 2 days.

All of a sudden it got back to the problem of where revs would drop and it would stall either when i was slowing down or stopping at junctions

I dont really want to put another £30 of fuel in it if its knackered , would resetting the ECU by leaving battery off help

Or does anyone have any better ideas ???

Thanks

now, did it start doing this when ur tank was empty once again?

and asfor resetting ur ECU, always worth a go, my revvs were bouncing last night, this morning i reset my ECU and it was perfect!

so its always worth a go. maybe who ever you bought it off did some work int he engine and didnt let ur ECU adapt to the new part.

if that fails, look at ur ICV

An ECU reset is free, so worth a crack. Another think worth looking at is its recent service history. How old is the fuel filter, air filter, sparks, oil and oil filter etc?

If its way overdue, a thorough service could be just the thing. I know if i'd bought a car with patchy service history, it'd be having all of the above, plus some new coolant, and a thorough clean and inspection of the brakes, the shocks etc...

Hi

Not sure if its linked , its just weird when I bought it with no fuel in it , it was doing it then , yet seemed to stop as soon as I put £30 worth of fuel in it.

Its when it got to around a third of a tank left it started playing up.

As for the service only thing I can guarantee is that the oil is fresh and the guy I bought it from said it had a service that week.

This morning it was ticking over without stalling for about 5minutes , as soon as I moved the throttle cable it cut out.

I have this problem with mine, caused by a service, cause i didn't replace the HT leads, i think i disturbed them when replacing plugs and its triggerd it. try that
