Hi All

Is there someone who can advise me on a 1999 1.4 brava revving between 2000 and 3500 on it's own.

A friend suggested throttle potentiometer. Is this a possibility and if so is it a straight replacement part, / best place to purchase and is it at the pedal or engine end?

Many thanks

Andy

It's at the engine end.

Its a black box at the back of the throttle body.

There are 2 different types of linkages, there is a cable linkage, and an adjustable shaft linkage.

If you have a cable from the accelerator pedal to the throttle body you cannot fit the adjustalbe shaft type and vice versa.

However you can remove the Idle Position Sensor from one throttle body to another.

If you fit a replacement sensor to your current throttle body you disconect your battery remove old sensor, fit new sensor but dont fully tighten new sensor. Reconnect battery and turn your ignition on and of several times so the plunger on the sensor possitions it's self then tighten the sensor up.

I paid £20 for myn from the scrap yar but they would only sell me me a full sensor because if the removed the sensor the throttle body is useless which is fair enough i supose.
