Hi, I have a 1999 brava jtd105. The gearbox has become noisy over the last few weeks. The noise is the distinctive sound of rotating metal on metal and can be heard when in neutral and in all the gears when driving. It disappears when the clutch pedal is pressed down. Clutch is a bit juddery on the way up (has been for last 10k miles) but works fine as does gearbox. I don't know believe this is normal wear and tear as it seem to have got much louder very quickly, so I am starting to look around for a spare s/h box. Does anyone know whether the boxes are interchangeable with any of the other brava(o) diesel/petrol models as there doesn't seem to be many JTDs being broken at the moment.

Thanks

Hi, not yet, this has crossed my mind - there is no evidence of any leaks where I park it but I will have a look at the weekend and report back.

Thanks

Hello,

If you are looking for a replacement I think the TD100 gearbox is nearly exactly the same ratio wise (according to ratio's in manual), and should fit..

BRAVA JTD GEARBOX

Thanks. Checked the gearbox oil and it was ok. Garage has confirmed that gearbox bearings have gone and quoted me £120 to swap box so now I need to find one. I am inclined to think one from a TD 100 (there may be one on ebay)is best bet as I cant find a JTD but would be grateful if any one could confirm for certain that this would fit before I buy one.

Chris.
