General brava gears

hi...just refilled the oil to correct level in gearbox,and added a bit of stop leak[as i had a leak lol]hopefully will work.my problem is ....when engine not running gears work 1st 2nd etc. turn the engine on and for the life of me it wont go into gear?????? what the hell is going on:bang: would appreciate any answers thnx tony

if it wont go into any gear with engine running it often means the clutch is not disengaging.

to test that theory, stick it in 1st, keep the clutch pedal fully pressed, and then try to start the car. if it jurks forward you know the clutch is not disengaging.

cheers jug....got it sorted now....didnt have enough clutch fluid in.i had to get the air out of the pipes,it can be done without taking battery tray out if you can get ur hand up to the bleeder.i have a leak in the pipe so i need to find that now?? thnx anyway

at least you know why the clutch wasnt disengaging now. thankfully hydraulic problems are the easiest type of problem to fix since you dont need to remove the gearbox. are you sure the leak is on the pipe? that rarely happens, where as slave cylinder leaks are very very common.
