Brava engine

I have a Brava 1600 SX which has thrown its cam belt. Its going to cost about £1200 to sort out the head and renew the belt. Most of this is, of course, labour and as its almost twice what I paid for the car I'm thinking of trying to find a 2nd hand engine and swapping it myself. The car is P reg and in very good condition so I think its worth trying to save it so long as I can keep the cost down.
Can anybody tell me:
1)Anywhere I can get an engine and
2)Are there any snags in doing an engine change. For example would I have to have the ECU re-mapped etc?
Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated. I live in Bedfordshire and would like to try to find an engine fairly close to home.

Many thanks

Mike

I had an engine changed on a brava couple years back and didnt have to have the ecu changed engine cost 250 and the labour from my local was around 200 plus there is always othe little things that need doing but they cost relitively little. i found parts gateway was the place to go as they always came up trumps for me plus i got it delervered free to the garage too

it wont need a whole new engine if cambelt has gone. at worst it will need some new valves possibly a whole head.

and lucky you i have one sitting in the garage ready to go.

make me an offer
