Ive tried bleeding my brakes today manually and with a pressure bleeding system and im not gettin any fluid coming out of the nips. Nipples are not blocked. However, ive had the car jacked up. Could this be the problem? Is there a specific order the brakes have to be bled in? Does it have to be level? Any help?? Please???

You should get something coming through, jack it up in the centre of the rear beam, take the wheels off and put axle stands under the hubs and let the jack down then try again, maybe your rear brake compensator is fooked, i changed mine after finding out i had no rear brakes on the mot rollers, also undo the rear nipples quite a bit until you get a good flow of oil, i bleed the rears first then fronts Ant!

Iv tried takin out all the nipples and still nowt. Theres nothin comin out the front calipers either so im not sure if its the compensators. Theres a sort of brake pressure regulator cylinder at the back in the middle isnt there? Could that have something to do with it?

Alex.

You’re lucky to get them out at all!! :slayer:

Try and bleed them the old fashioned way :) see if you can start it off :).

Front to back but doing opposite sides IIR (O/S/F - N/S/R - N/S/F O/S/R)..

When I did mine I replaced as much from the reservoir so as to get good stuff right from the start. That was after extracting little pieces of the old bleed screw https://www.fiatforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1808&d=1101682474 (n).

With the bleed screws in do the brakes work? Crank a front and rear bleed screw open then sit and pump the brake pedal a few times see if liquid comes up. If it does then the pressure bleeder is not working.

Bleed nips are clear. Got some fluid out of the front offside nipp, but not much. Have taken out the nipples to all calipers (not all at the same time, of course) but nothing coming out. Tried manually bleeding it, rears first, fronts first, but still nothing. Replaced a blocked nipple. Used easibleed. nothing. Have used this systems dozens of times before. Not faulty. I suspect either the master cylinder, or the brake bias valve (or whatever its called). Oh, and hi son!

Stealth - yes, some slight pressure when all nipples up tight, I suspect from front system (as I managed to get some air out of a front nipple), but pedal nearly goes to the floor.

Oh how embarassing. Hi dad, ur only on here so u can talk about how many nips u were fiddling with last night. They were metal, get over it.. I think we should try all wheels on the floor this time. Oh and does anyone know how to make this large print so the old man can read it.:D

Cheeky monkey! At least I know about cars! And I was driving a Fiat Uno (OK, so it was a 1100 FIRE engine) when you were still messin your nappies (snigger!)

I do know about cars. I know about brake master sphincters and steering colons, and the rack and pinecomb. See eye nose my stuff!!:yum:

Sounds like the master cylinder isn't working to me. Take it off and see if the servo is full of fluid if it is the m/c seals have gone.

Matt

Sounds like we got this family on here

:p

Haha! Such a close description its untrue! I think it is the master cylinder I think one of the seals has gone cos theres no pressure at all but theres fluid in the system. I got another master cylinder and servo anyways il replace the pipe aswell. Im planning on restoring its former glory. Itl be a sick one. My dads doing a mk2 lotus cortina aswell so we got our work cut out. I just need to tow it so I can cas start on the bodywork. Cheers!

The master cylinder on my mk2 has just gone. Just in the process of swapping it for a spare but I had the same symptons as you.

Matt

Managed to blled enough air out of the front citcuit to allow towing of the car, but not a splosage out of the rears. Gonna try manually playing with the brake bias valve to see if it will allow any fluid through before replacing the master cylinder.
