Well my brake lights are on permanently and it's the brake pedal switch but I can't see how to adjust it. It's fixed in like a bayonet type fixing ie like a light bulb, just push it in and a quarter turn to lock it in place but where's the ability to adjust WHEN it comes on? There's no screw thread on it like I'm used to seeing

Anyone know how to adjust when it triggers?

Oh good, another one!

Not quite sure how you fix it, though! I have always had my local dealership fix it - last time, it took them 3 goes that morning to fix it - each time they said it was fixed, and as I got in the car to drive off, the brake lights were still on

Previous posts on the subject say something about pulling the switch centre plunger down to act earlier but mine doesn't seem to be movable.

However, I have a cunning plan! A sticky pad placed strategically between the switch plunger and the brake pedal will make it trigger later so I'm off to the post office to get some!

No wonder so many Stilos are going around with flickering brake lights!

Press brake pedal down, and using pin nose pliers pull the pin downwards (its on a ratchet), release the pedal, (dont lift it) and switch adjusts itself. On VDC systems a 1mm washer/feeler guage should be placed in between the switch plunger and the pedal during adjustment.

Thanks NumanR; I've already pulled it hard; I don't want to break the switch. I'll give it another try and then it's the sticky pads!

What's a VDC system? Do I need to visit a clinic?

Ah Yes! That's the one. My fingers weren't enough to pull down the plunger. Thanks NumanR! :)
I must be more careful not to push the brake pedal upwards with my foot in future otherwise I'll have to do it all again
