1999 Ducato 2.8 tdi camper. What is the reason for the brake fluid disappearing in resavoir. No sign of wetness at wheels to suggest leak in cylinders. Could the master cylinder seals cause the problem and any leaks hidden in the servo housing. Can someone help with an answer

If their are no leaks at the calipers, drums, flexi hoses or the pipes or unions then the next place is the master cylinder. A few hours underneath with a torch and preferably in the dry would be my first job before taking the master cylinder apart. I hope this helps ?

Hi
If the master cylinder is leaking you would normally see weepage on the servo under the master cylinder. On the later 244 models the brake master also supplies the clutch master cylinder as well so if it is leaking you would have to look up under the dash to see if the clutch master cylinder was leaking or check the clutch slave cylinder on the gearbox. Although I think on some models they used a cable for the clutch instead.
Cheers

I had a Toyota Colarado which mysteriously used brake fluid for several months but not a sign of a leak anywhere even when parked over cardboard. Brakes always seemed fine but sometimes a bit soft but ok.
Was doing another job on it at the back and by chance took a rubber plug out of a chassis member and a load of brake fluid came out!
Brake pipe had rusted through enough to leak fluid but still withstand pedal pressure. Even changed the master cylinder and servo before I found it!
Moral - it has to go somewhere!

How much is missing and over what time period, as the pads wear the pistons are pushed out and the void is filled with fluid from the reservoir. The pistons are about 40mm and 50mm each * 2 sides travel is say conservarively 2cm

2.5 x 2.5 x 3.14 x 2 x 2 = 78ml
2 x 2 x 3.14 x 2 x 2 = 50.24ml

So difference between full pads and fully wornpads is about 120ml in the reservoir ignoring the back.

That being said its probably leaked into the brake servo though.
