I noticed that the connectors on my front passenger brake was not conected together on tuesday. One of the clips has melted abit on the disc by teh looks of it but it is inact. I clipped the back together but iv bin drivin 2day in the rain and the brake circuit light started flickerin randomly and when i pressed the brake it ws coming on. i fiddled witht eh connector and now its stopped. Is this cable important?

If the cable went directly into one of the brake pads, normally off side, then it's one of the pad wear indicators.

If the light was flickering, it's possible your pads are getting low, and need replacing.

Best to check to be fully sure.

The cable is the pad wear indicator. When it illuminates you need to change your pads. Ideally you should spot the pads need changing before the light appears on the dash.

It could be that with a damaged connector its shorting and giving a false reading. I'd advise getting replacement connectors from Fiat (as they melted anyway) and check the condition of the pads to make sure they are ok.

it had new brake pads last year i think so i think its just shorting out. Cheers

Bear in mind the dash has 2 warning lights associated with braking:-

> The first is the pad wear indicator.

> The other is handbrake/fluid level.

Just make sure it is the pad wear indicator lighting up.
