Hey,

How will this effect our Fiats more so than V Power?

Yet again we see another new fuel hit the market (y) although is this a desperate effort by BP to rival the popularity of Shell's V Power? And will this actually be better than V Power I wonder and will shell decided to increase the V Power octane?

I myself am a V Power Club member and obtain many points from V Power bonuses such as filling up on Friday's for Double points and 2.5 points per litre over the lower 300 points minimum limit. This basically means "I wont be buying BP Ultimate 102" :)

What you guys think?

It is intended for race use. Quite a few formulas do only allow pump fuel. BP started with 6 places in the country some time ago and now everyone can use engines requiring higher octane rating.

The thing with this fuel aswell is that im not gonna pay nearly 1.50 extra a litre, when my car isnt mapped for it anyways!

If your car does not have a detonation knock sensor, then its a waste of money using it, as the mapping will not allow for the decreased detonation using a higher Ron. Plus, its not exactly cheap as its really for racing!!

Remember when they done the tests on different fuels?? It was only the high performance cars that really benefitted from the fuel type. Also, how much power are you really gonna get going from 99-102 ron? Not gonna be that much to be honest, if your car isnt mapped for 102 ron.

Waste of money for a road car IMHO.

only the high performance cars really benefitted

exactly, the evidence is there, but people still buy super unleaded because they think it makes a difference. unless your owners manual specifically says you need the higher octane, or you have a remap that assumes a higher octane will be used, there really is no benefit.

they use the same detergents in regular unleaded, even supermarkets do now. better to save the money for a bottle of redex, that will do more, although even redex is a bit of a scam.

I heard the Fort stuff was the stuff to use.

yeah i heard that too. havent given it a go yet.

i once did a test between redex and stp and found that neither removed any deposits at all when i left dirty sparkplugs submerged overnight. neat petrol worked much better. i was trying to settle an argument (claim that redex is better than stp) but all i did was prove both are useless. oh well.
