Just discovered this handy little kit... and decided I want one to replace my jack kit :)

But I'm not sure about which one to get...
Does anyone use a bottle jack for a non-lowered GP?

Just need to be sure of the clearance...

Cheers

I use them daily, on trucks, coaches and dustcarts etc,...

But for car and van, trolley jacks are so much easier.

And tbh I very much doubt a bottle jack would fit under a car very easily.

Also, if you go for a manual pump one over an air fed one, it makes the job so much longer.

Also be aware that the lifting head on a bottle jack is tiny, so you have less lifting area to spread the load.
If your'e going to use a bottle jack, under no circumstances jack on the chassis or the car body, otherwise you'll find a nice neat hole where the jack once sat, and worse still a messy one in the back of your head.

Hmmm! I get the message then... I'll stick with the scissor Jack on the GP toolkit!

Thanks guys! You really know how to set someone straight (y)

Good decision. Also the bottle jack will be heavier than the scissor jack, and as said above will take a lot longer to raise the car. Not what you need on a wet night. (That's another thread!)
