Checking my new 8v block and can still see the honing marks there is on step on top of the cylinders will it still need honing?
And what is the differences between the big ends from the 8v to the 16v both 1.2 thanks

What're you doing?

If you're fitting new rings, the cylinders will need a finish hone or, at very least, a de-glaze. You really need the advice (and experience, and tools) of an engine re-builder to see if there is a step.

Not sure about the big ends, I think that all the 1242s are the same. Check with ePer?

Big ends are the same between 1.2 8v and 16v...also same as 1.4 16v. Think 1.1 are the same as well, but not 100%

There are standard sized in 3 clearances (yellow, red, blue), then a further two oversizes, each again with 3 grades each.....giveing a possible of 9 different sizes :)
. Forget that part, thats the main ends, doh. Can't rember the different sizes for big ends.

Yes got a fresh block the one im using right now is bit more than fekt, just needs reboring and deckin but dont want to use over sized piston or raise the compression
i do have a set of (iirc) 0.4mm over sized pistons from a 1242 8v somewhere.
What i did with this engine is that i used the worse case for it with lot of hard times pushed it to limit all to see where the weak points were trial n error and think im almost done(drove back from york other week). yes it has been all done before but nothing like personal experience.
Reliable 120ft lb of torque is all im after.
thank you all anyways
