Boot smooth insert?

Talking to the bodyshop man about getting a boot smooth and he suggested that it might be cheaper for me to get a boot insert to replace where the handle goes and then fill around it. I presume this is an alternative to welding a plate in?? Does a piece like this exist and what are peoples opinions about the method.

Not ordered one yet but i've sent an e-mail to them asking what shipping cost is to uk mainland. I;m guessing to pay you wilol need to open an account with them and then stick in your credit card details. I'll let you know what they say when i get a reply.

I know a bloke that will weld in your plate, fill and smooth the tailgate and then full respray the whole tailgate for £100. He did all the work on my car and does a top top for no money-cash seems to work well for him also. He's in Shipdam near Dereham, let me know if you want his details. I cant recommend him enough.
