Replaced my boot handle today. Noticed a good 6 or 7 months ago that the chrome was lifting on the boot handle and got a replacement on ebay nice and cheap.

Quite disappointing to see this happen when there is no obvious damage to the surface that would explain the damage. Chrome on the underside was lifting also. Giving it a shake, something is loose inside. All the clips are still in one piece so it's not that. About the time I discovered the chrome lifting, the microswitch stopped working and a spray of switch lubricant sorted that.

All in all pretty much what you'd expect from a cheaply built car, glad I only paid £8720 included nicer wheels and leather, I can't imagine spending 11,12,13,14 15k plus for a 500 as some do.....

and that part is the almost the same, well its black with no chrome and I replaced it with carbon.

I hate this cheap looking chrome parts, they are very bad made and they also start to peel in couple of years.
I painted all the chrome parts over mine with some Anthracite + silver metalizer Plastidip and gave it a much better looking, feeling and finish.

Or you can just do what RUI did that is also great - and dip it in the Hydrographics method.

That's why I hate "chrome" on cars. They aren't metal and it all starts lifting. Ford Mondeo have huge issues with this for all the dash and radio controls. This is why i chose the 500s. :)
