Basically I'm building a boot build, it's going to have two 10" subs and I'm debating what subwoofers to have plus I need a amp that is powerful enough to power them and also power some 6x9's

Then finally I want some sort of lighting in there to show it off when I have the boot open.

So if anybody could give me some advice along with some links perhaps?

Thanks :)

firstly, i would say not to get 6x9s, but components in place of ur standard door speakers as having two 10s in the boot with 6x9s is gonna render them pretty much useless (you wont hear them over the subs from back there).

secondly, if ur car has an existing boot light, just cut it off and wire in some neon/leds in.
if there's no boot light, you can wire lights from the amp for ur subs, but i would get a set with a switch so they're not on all the time the boots closed

is there any particular reason for having two subs? two doesn't always necessarily mean louder or better sound quality. so you could also save a bit of money, time and effort

spot on about the 6x9s whitey btw and as said you can take a power source from the rear boot light.

how handy are you with basic tools and wood?

you can custom make an enclosure that will look and sound good its cheaper then buying one as well

thanks for the replies, however i could do with 6x9's in the car to make music more louder as due to having two subs... i dont just want to hear bass i want to here the music aswell, do you reckon a stealth shelf would be any good if i install 6x9's into that?

two subs in the boot will eventually kill the 6x9's anyway and you wont hear them much over the subs

like whitey said get some component speakers in the front door card and that will give you your music

I would get one decent 10" or 12" sub and an amped set of components. That way you will get sound from the right places. 6x9's are just for a bit of cheap bass if you dont want a sun.

As for lighting i would recomend the 3m led strip lighting. Its great, but not cheap. You can get kits with a remote control.

That is what i will be using but there is a long way to go until i think about spending money on nicities like that. ATM i have a couple of the Maplins cheapy pole lights attached to the boot light wiring. They arent all that bright although they do give a nice look at night but they rattle to bass (n)

Thanks for your help, it's just a pain if 6x9's aren't going to sound that good in the boot as ive just replaced the front an rear speakers so that's why I was looking at getting some 6x9s fitted. Could any of you's recommend some decent component speakers for me then? Cheers

which speakers have you put in? Chances are they are perfectly good, they just need amping and possibly installing properly.
Aftermarket components are designed to work off of a larger amplifier than a Head unit due to sensitivity. They will sound much better quality but lower volume unless you feed them more power. 6x9s have a high sensitivity which makes for a poor quality sound but work with low power.

If your looking for some decent component speakers you could have a look at Hertz ESKs. Slightly outdated, however iv just had some fitted at Source Sound and they sound ace. I am putting a sub in soon but for the moment, the sound quality is spot on.
