Bonnet stuck shut!

I went to check my oil & water etc this morning but I couldn't open the bonnet! The cable hasn't broken, the catch just doesn't want to release.
I have tried pulling hard on the inner cable inside the car while someone bounces the bonnet a few time but no joy.

Other than cutting a large hole in the bonnet any suggestions guys?

Thanks.

David

mine does this some times. just try and get your fingers under the front and lift.
dunno why but hey.

you could try just pushing down lightly on the bonnet while someone pulls the catch, worked for my boot the other day.

If you have no grill in the front of the bonnett get your hand in there and pull the catch while some one pulls the release lever, Happended to mine when the release cable stretched, had to punch my grill out to get at the mech though

Still stuck!

Booked in tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a warranty job.

Fortunately it is my local garage (non-Fiat) who has a service arrangement with the Fiat dealer in Inverness. One advantage of living on an island I suppose!

Re: Still stuck!

My hood catch has stuck a couple of times, a real pain to get into. I think the garage took the grill off and replaced the catch or spring (after me sitting in it up the ramp for an hour to pulling the release). It was peanuts to sort (£15) so don't be forking out wads of cash to repair it.

Another thing, if you're local fiat dealer is Arnold Clark, don't waste your money, put it into a reliable independent mechanic and get the job done right!

Re: Still stuck!

Not a problem really, but when i pull my bonnet release, the bonnet opens, but it doesnt pop up (looks like its still shut).

I can walk up and just lift it as normal.

It's been like this since about a month after i bought it. I would like to get it fixed, just in case 1 day i pull the release, forget about it, then drive off...only for the bonnet to flip up on me on the motorway...not good!

Would this be as simple as an adjustment, or do i need a new cable because its stretched?
