Hello everyone

Having owned a red 1987 Fiat Bertone X1/9 for five years, I've just added a gray 1997 Barchetta to my collection.

In France, there's a great forum for the X1/9, but not for the Barchetta. So I'm here to connect with fellow enthusiasts and get some advice.

I've always loved Italian cars, and Fiats in particular. I realize that my first cars were Fiats: two Unos (a 60 S and a 70 SX i.e.), then a Fiat Punto (60S) and Palio ((so practical for the family with its huge trunk). Now that I'm older, the X1/9 and Barchetta are perfect "fun cars."

The Bertone X1/9 is an adorable car with almost every quality: incredible design (by the master Marcello Gandini), mid-rear engine, pop-up headlights and a targa roof.
The drawback is the lack of power, as is often the case with mid-rear engine cars whose incredible road holding shows that they can accept higher power outputs.
But this requires careful attention to trajectories rather than managing crazy accelerations and demonic power.
I love mine :), 1987, red

Hello to everyone.

The previous owner gave me two keys (gray and blue).
One works fine, but the other won't start the car (the "key" light on the dashboard stays on).
And of course, I don't have the blue master key (7th owner in 29 years, it's not inconceivable).

So, if I lose my only working key, I'm done for.

30 years later, is there any way to bypass the immobilizer? Or to get a new set of working keys made?

This is probably a common topic for all 90's FIAT, but I start in the Barchetta section.

Thank you !
