Hi everybody

I hope this is a simple one for the veterans here :).

How do I remove the plastic trim around the rear wheel?

Notice the red balloon :)

Thanks

I'm not sure about this since my Uno doesn't have them, but my Mk2 Jetta had them and they just popped off by pulling on them. I would think the Uno is probably the same, off course the is a chance that they can break in the process or the plastic bits that keeps them there can break off.

Not sure also. I have a question also? how do u remove the two long black strips? they seem to be a rust accumulater...

Thanks guys. There are a few plastic clips under the arch but I wonder if it is glued somehow. I was hoping this knowledge would be in this forum as surely someone had to remove those before in a non-destructive process.

My rear wheel arch protector was torn off in a collision. (passenger side). It is partly glued on with stuff like Tiger Seal, partly also it locates through a couple of holes in the metal of the arch lip and fixed here by round plastic studs. This is the one part that I have not been able to replace after fitting a new front wing and door skin to my Uno and refitting the plastic door and wing trim. Looks like it might be a bit difficult to remove. If you have a spare, I need one.

The two black strips. If you are talking about the roof rack holders on ur roof they just pop off if you pull on it

I presume you are refering to the front part of the rear wheelarch, which has the plastic cover. If they are anything like the Panda (80's- 95 model) , don't they two small black screws on the inside lip of the arch. ? Brush them up to clean any debris off to check.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I was indeed referring to the front part of the rear wheelarch. When have looked at them, couldn't find any screws. But I'll have a more attentive look as it does make a lot of sense - if they are not blued. I tried removing the plastic and nearly split it, how come the glue be so strong...?

Cheers

I'm afraid there are no clips at the back on the wheel arch :(.

How stupid is this - it can only be removed by breaking it to pieces!

You should have 2 plastic rivets/studs on the arch lip, you push the pins through the middles, then the stud pulls out easily.

This is what the stud looks like so you can see the principal... When pushed flush, the centre pin pushes the tapered wings out, holding it in place.

Hi a73uk

Thanks for the info. Effectively I have removed already those clips (3 if memory doesn't fail me?) but the plastic trim still is firmly held to the bodywork on the other edge next to the door. That's the part I cannot release I'm afraid.

I'll take some pictures tonight.

Cheers

Oh right, I wasnt sure if it was 2 or 3.

I see your problem then, maybe theres been a repair there before & it was tiger sealed on (if it wasnt done properly it might have made it retain moisture).

I`ll have a look at mine tomorrow to see if its sealed on or not, I know in my Panda it was just held on by the rivets & still fitted flush with the metalwork.

The 1 time I took a door rubbing strip off an Uno, it was sealered on (& it hadnt been touched from new), but I dont think they`d have glued the arch trim on (or they wouldnt have bothered with the rivets).

If it is tiger sealed on, you might have to resort to a long blade, but you might get away with a strong nylon fishing type wire, used like a flexible saw.

Cheers
