My Xbox 360 has started playing up something stupid. Not recognising games and not loading and crasheing with dirty disc errors even tho the discs are all mint. I'm alittle obssesive that way.

Replacement drive including fitting is £60 and I gotta go to Dundee to get it done! :smt022

Anyone else had to put up with this crap?
Warrenty is 2 months out of date! NOT COOL!

Mine has been playing up too. on PGR3 (one of my favorite games) all the engine noises are corrupt and covered in static which ruins the whole feel. It only does it on that game and the game itself is not faulty. similar sound glitches in all the xbox 1 games too (what little actually work).

Apparently a survey of US retailers has revealed that the actual failure rate (counted via extended warrenty claims) is 33%. So high that they actually had to double the cost of extended warrentys in stores.

God 33% that is really high - thats higher than my works failure rate

it all depends on the versions you get and beast the xbox drive is a sata if i remember correctly so its not a hard swap just open it up dont touch anything else unless you have discharged yourself properly easy to do just touch a metal casing or something and then unplug the 2 wires and put in new drive

oh and take it you mean GT electronics in dundee :) Dee is a good mate hell sort you out good and proper :)

yeah its GT electronics.
To be honest I'd rather have the piece of mind of having the work done by a proffesional and with the warranty that comes with it.

Still as long as I know they are good then that will do me aswell. :)

yeah hell give you a 6 month guarantee with any work he does on the box so hes good for that aswell :) what drive is it do you have is it the sammy or the toshiba

I just opened this months issue of Edge only to find a big article on the 360 being a badly designed piece of ****...mainly because the GPU sits directly under the DVD drive, has no cooling and tends to melt. Think I'll hold off buying one for a while.

Love my ps3 at the moment. Even with the lack of games i still have plenty of compatible ps2 games that i can pass the time with.

Currently i am playing GT4, resistance and oblivion.

sorry but my 360 was day of release purchase and has never had any single flaws or errors its if it used incorrectly for long periods this will cause the over heating but other than that you should have a pretty solid product

So the majority of 360 owners use it incorrectly - are there instructions for proper use or location of product?

It's obviously a design flaw and Microsoft have admitted as much with the extended warranties.

lol the fact that Microsoft has taken radical steps such as this prove there is a massive problem. 33% of the systems have been reported faulty so imo it has nothing to do with incorrect usage - just poor design.

At least they have had the balls to step forward and start sorting systems.
