hi, i bought a multipla (02) in november from a garage and it seems to be one of the owrst decisions ever. the day after i bought it the exhaust blew. i took it back to the dealer and he fitted a new one from the CAT back. a week and a half later the clutch went and they took it back to replace it. they had it for over a week. when i drove it home(the week before christmas) it started juddering when i got to 35mph. now the bloody exhaust has blown again!!!

i took it to a garage and they quickly looked in the bonnet and said the dealer had chiseled the manifold or something to get to the exhaust when they replaced it. i'm totally freaking out and was to shove the car up their a*se!!!

i was warned about fiat before i bought it and i should have listened.

has anyone heard of a new exhaust blowing that fast?? could something else be causing it to blow??

If the garage that fitted the exhaust and clutch messed up, they should replace/repair them (properly this time), or pay for them to be done by someone who knows what they're doing.
All clutches go eventually ;)
You can't really blame the car for either problem I'm afraid, however annoying/frustrating they may be. :p

fiat isnt the problem its the people who you brought it off are. its like many cars that you buy secondhand it eather been treated like a new born baby or its been driven around like a boy racer who carnt afford two pay for repairs.
but on any car thats if its blowing that fast and they said they have fixed it dont belive them get a marker pen and put any where you think that they going two replace when they fix it check underneath two see if its still there if it is syou been RIPED off.

they allways say buyers beware and thats ture you should have taken out one of the aa polices or rac they check the car over two see if its sound and if it isnt and they signed for it you can get them two fix it for you.

just hope there nothing els with your car dont be put of by fiat cars there the best around

I agree with all the above, your car isn't the problem. We have had our multi from new, now coming up to 10 years old, 1 exhaust replaced, 1 clutch. it stood snowed in for a week last week and started at the first turn of the key!

take it back to the person you bought it from and tell them you don't want it or take it somewhere else to get it fixed, you've been mucked around by your garage, not by your car.

That said, when you buy second hand it is always going to be a gamble, wear and tear items will need to be replaced at some point and if the person who owned it before you didn't look after it then you may end up with the bills, that is the same for any car, not just Fiats!

I agree, if the garage have knackered the exhaust then stick to your guns and get them to put it right, or to get another more competent garage to do it. If you need help see your local CAB office.

Or tell us where you live and we'll come round with you and give 'em a slap!

First: I LOVE MY UGLY BUG! (y)

Right, now for an unbiased comment :D

I've had my bug for about a year. In that time I've done approx 25000 miles - yep, I know it's 'bit' over average but here's what it's done:

Been from Wolverhampton to MUNICH and back 6 or 7 times - I average about 2500 each trip. Been to Holland and back, plus all the running about over here. Plus a little trip from Chatham to Aberdeen to Chatham dragging a trailer with a Honda 1200 Gold Wing Aspencade on it.

In that time it broke down on the first day I owned it - the crank sensor came adrift - a bodge by the garage came apart, they put it right and that was ok.

It had a clutch about 5000 mls ago and new discs n pads on the front and I changed the back adjusters (flimsy springs broke)
New exhaust just before christmas.

It 'broke down' last week in all that ice n snow - it started ok, but cut out after a minute, started n cut out again, then wouldn't start at all - battery down.
Finally got it started two days later on a tow and the exhaust exploded like a bomb - got picture on me mobile if I can get it posted - I've never seen an exhaust open up like that and to think I only changed it 4 weeks ago!

All in all - my car has never let me down. It's had a few problems but nothing that required assistant other than a tow - once.
Would I buy another - you bet I would, I love that bug. :slayer: :worship:

I would like it to be a bit more economical and to do less revs (70mph = 3500rpm)
