Technical Blocks on temperature gauge...

Four here and always has been in the (nearly) 5 years I've had it. Once it's warmed up, very little can make it budge either, regardless of season, load or speed.

Mine sits at three in the summer 4 when going up in the mountains.

Now it's minus outside, with pipe insulation blocking the grille, it gets to two.

Heater is hot enough at two bars though.

3 or 4 is OK.
Mine ('02 115 JTD) usually sits at 3, occasionally flicks to 4 if crawling in traffic on a hot day.
Only time it went above 4 was the first proper warm day this year, got stuck in a tailback . . . and I forgot I still had foam strips stuffed in the grille slots!

Good to hear!
The fan seemed to kick in as soon as it went to 5 bars, so I know that all works as it should..

Honestly can't believe the difference in the cabin now, the misses even commented saying its actually too hot now, having to turn it down!
Amazing what you learn to live with!

Slight change in temp could be nothing, but when was the last time the coolant was replaced, if at all?
If it's not been done in the last 2-3 years/40,000 miles or so, it might be an idea to do it, and flush through the system as well.

Really should do mine actually . . .

I don't think there is anything wrong...its just the heater was terrible before..as the car was never getting upto temp
I changed the coolant 2 years ago

hmm methinks I need to replace the thermostat on my JTD, usually one block and on rare occasions two blocks!! Cabin heating is generally very slow and does not get very warm... symptom of thermostat stuck on open?

I shall do so as soon as budget allows.. before winter really sets in.. £47ish seems to be the best price around, maybe fresh antifreeze while I'm at it too :)
