Hi I’m a newbie so be gentle.
I have a Ducato 250 2008 3.0L 160 motorhome. It has done only 30k.
I must tell you I’m a diesel engineer by trade with a lot of years behind me. I know my stuff but this is causing me to pull my hair out.
When I pull away it black smokes until it hits about 2000 rpm then it’s fine, just like turbo lag. No warning lights & it drives & pulls like a train.
It has had a new modified Pierberg throttle valve & loom but I am unable to set adaption. Do these need resetting after the mod? It shows ok on live data 87% & 5% which is ok.
I have checked everything & no faults but turbo is slow to boost & only reaches about 1.5 bar. Turbo is perfect, clean & spins free. waste gate perfect, boost pipes no leaks. Egr clean no leaks or blow bye ( have blanked) cat clean as a whistle exhaust flow fine. Fuel pressures spot on. Maf spot on. New o2 sensor & new maf fitted. Obviously a/f & f/f fine . I’m hoping it’s to do with the throttle valve as I believe they work differently to the original whahler one. Next job is intercooler off & clean but I can’t see why it should be restricted. Any ideas would be most appreciated as I’m now developing a bald spot.lol. Thanks in advance.
