Hi folks

My name's Rob

I'm carrying on the family tradition - my dad owned 2 Uno's, a tipo & a mirafuri. My car is a bog standard Stilo 1.6 Dynamic which I've had for about a year now since defecting from Ford. Everything was great until recently which led me to this forum. Have found the info contained to be useful especially the techie stuff.

Am thinking of upgrading the sound system from the standard issue. Already have a Kenwood head unit but not sure which speakers to buy. I like dance music so will need some decent bass. Any ideas?

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob and welcome to the Stilo massive :slayer:

As for decent sounds, plenty of guys on here who have uprated their sound-system, with amps, etc. They will be along soon, or bang a thread up in Stilo section unless you have already done so ;)

Well I wouldn't hold your breath my friend cos when youv'e driven a car as DYNAMIC as the STILO everything else gets PUNTed to one side ;) :nerner:  :tempt:

Hello Rob & welcome. If you intend to replace front/back/both speakers you will need 6 1/2" speakers.

You dont need speaker adapters, use the ones that come with the car. Simple trick of cutting the old speaker spider. Ask if you don't understand.

For bass the hardest part is getting power from front to rear, have a look in guides. Take a look at my website for some idea's of layout.

Hello Bozzy. I have to ask - what's a speaker spider?

Hello Bozzy. I have to ask - what's a speaker spider?

If/when you decide to replace your speakers you will see that the old ones are made up of a plastic pod like affair. The actual speaker is attached to this unit by four or five legs, sort of splayed out like a spider. If you cut away these legs at the outer circle you are left with a speaker with five legs, like a spider. Chuck it in the bin. Once this is out of the way you just place the new speaker on the ready made flat surface and screw them down. 6 1/2" fit flush/true. It is actually much easier than I am explaining here. This is front only, back ones fit to panel easily.

Cheers for that. I've replaced the speakers in 2 escorts but that required mounting brackets so this should be easy. :D
