I want to go out and get some shampoo later as I have just found I have run out and I only have that Simoniz wash wax stuff.
Today is the first time I will have washed the car so this is stage one of a proper detail.
So which non wax shapoo do you recomend I can get on the highstreet. Also I have a decent wax and clay bar but is there anything I need to do first?

I swear by Autoglym shampoo and conditioner. Just make sure that you rinse the car first and then follow the instructions. Wash one panel then rinse and dry off. It's about a tenner (or was that for polish?) for a litre but you only use a couple of cap fulls per 10 ltr of water, so it lasts for ages

I use it quiet often (saying that i did buy 5l of it about 3-4 years ago for £20 when you consider its £5-£6 for 500ml it was a good buy ) :ROFLMAO:

you will also ideally want some thing to remove large tar splats and a polish....

Autoglym do Intensive tar remover and Super resin polish (i think halfords still have a 3-4-2 on car stuff)

To be fair if your claying i'd just use a mix of all purpose cleaner (daisy from tesco or star drops)

agree with all of the above specially super resin polish

on detailing world there was a review on loads of polish and removing swirl marks by hand and srp came out tops by a mile off

I opted for the auto glym stuff. Well progress is slow. Upon inspection it would seem that somebody has been spraying near the car. I'm confident that after talking to the spray shop that it wasn't them. Sooo I have spent most of the morning removing that from the roof.
I already have bilt hamber auto balm but that will have to wait until tomorow.
The last owner had a dog so I bought the auto glum ordor stuff, allong with wheel seal and tyre dressing. So I will do all of that after I finish claying.

well if your using Auto balm i wouldn't bother polishing it clay then balm (y)

clay for over spray

i use meguairs 3 step paint protection its the bomb.

8.49 at halfords ecach and its 3 for 2

the paint cleaner is Ok the Polish is mediocre the wax is very poor in terms of life span and the amount of effort needed to apply it

sorry i meant that i used clay to get off the overspray and used the auto balm rather than polish as its pretty much the same thing.
I have used the odor eliminator stuff inside for now but i will blitz the interior 2mo. It just needs a good rub down with the old hair remmover, hoover, a big bucket of flash and another deoder and shelll smell like a goodun. Pics will be uploaded soon. I have a few water smudges 2 sort and sideskirts to tcut then its on to the sills and engine bay.

I have also been contemplating sparayiong the matt black bits and gloss lacquering.

well iam shocked to hear that as once clayed then through step 1 2 then three i thought it was effortless.
granted ive only ever used a bucket and sponge then some turtle wax through out the yrs....the step into megauirs i think for me is a great choice.
each to there own .

iam pretty anal when it comes to detail so i do look after my cars/bikes/push bike ect ect and spend a bit of time keeping these in good shape(mr officer)
so the fact its longevitiy isnt (some say) great it wasnt the deciding factor.

The last owner had a couple of Staffies so hair isnt a major issue. Anyway i got a couple of pics yesterday.
