Hello

First post on this forum! I'm very impressed by what I've read about the Panda and I'm looking at prices at the moment and the best I've found is with Perrys in Aylesbury, which would be £5,475 for the above.

Anyone seen anything better? And, on a practical note, is there any run-in requirements as to speed etc for the first few hundred miles on this car? I'm up in Scotland and would be driving the car back North so would have to take this into account.

Cheers

Jamesie

I bought my Panda Cross from Perrys of Aylesbury and the customer service was excellent, making the whole process pain-free. They were particularly good at transferring my personal number plate to the car.
They delivered my car to my home in Sunderland and would have driven any trade-in back to Aylesbury if there had been one. I persuaded them not to charge for this delivery service.
The delivery driver was a very gentle, elderly man who drove the car slowly and carefully up to my house. He then caught the train back to the South and was delighted when I made him a coffee and drove him to Durham station. I can only assume that some customers do not offer such courtesies.
So, you wil not need to travel to and from Aylesbury. I think you can assume that your car will be in safe hands during the delivery process.
There is no running-in process as such for the Panda. I would recommend keeping the revs below about 3,000rpm initially but then gradually building them up. It's also a good idea to change the rpm that the engine cruises at during the first few thousand miles, ie don't do 2-300 miles at a constant 70mph.

Remember to opt for the ECO model though! same car basically but the tax will cost you only £30 a year instead of £120 (or whatever it is)
Price sounds about right i suppose, normal car is £5000 plus black metallic which is around the £275 if i remember correctly. Definitely get the ECO model though, it's not much more expensive.

I think definately keep the revs below 3000rpm ish when cold, but when it's warmed up you don't need to worry. Just drive it normally. Varying the rpm is a good idea. You want to get the rings well seated as quickly as possible really. Absolutely nothing wrong with seeing 5500rpm even in the first hundred miles as long as you don't do it all the time. It's good to stretch it a bit.

If you don't rev it, it will just take longer to run in. No advantage in that.

Thanks for all your comments. I quite like the idea of getting a cheap flight down to Luton one Saturday morning and then picking it up from Aylesbury and driving it home to get a good feel for it. From what I'm reading it seems like that would be ok - even the first 350ish miles at between 50 - 70 mph should be alright - is that a fair comment?

It'll be fine to cruise at that speed. Realistically you could cruise at a higher speed without issue.

My first 200 miles in my 100hp were spent at 95-100mph (I was late for a skidpan day!). 5500 miles on, no oil used and has loosened up quite nicely.

Sounds like a good idea...Just MAKE SURE THEY HAVE THE CAR READY!....I bought my 100hp from them and everything was fine, but you might have to keep on at them a bit!

Not a big deal but just double and triple check if you're coming all that way! :D

Good service from them though....Try to get mats, a full tank of petrol and a locking filler cap thrown in too! ;)

If you buy a new car then collect it.

I used to deliver brand new cars 23 years ago when i was just 21, there were no speed cameras then, say no more!
I would not treat cars like that now, but hey, i was only young!

They did get well run in though.

Cheers, just got to decide whether its worth waiting a couple of months to see if the prices comes down a bit!

One other question: presumably the in-car Bluetooth doesn't come as standard and is an optional extra?
