My handbrake cable has just snapped - on a hill, naturally :)

No damage done, but I just wondered if the group wisdom can come up with anywhere doing a great deal on them? I know they're only about £20 anyway (I think?) but there always seems to be someone on here who has found the odd part for almost nothing on some website or another, so I thought I might as well ask :)

It's a 2001 with drums, if that makes a difference.

Ebay Item No. 250704437949

Listed as new handbrake cable for Fiat Multipla

My left cable is pretty rough inside, it has a tight-spot right at the point where the brake is on, meaning the inner pad drags on the disc (which is why the inner pad wore down almost to the metal while the outer had around 6-7mm left) (n)
I've lubed it, to no avail, and the rubber boots are perished anyway, so I'll have to replace it.
Anyone found anywhere cheaper than the ridiculous £40+ most places seem to be asking?

Ebay seems best place ranginging from £10 for shorter side with drums to £20 for longer side with discs...
Or try eurocarparts and use crazy25 discount code for 25% off

Thanks, I'll try euro.
They're usually my second stop, after Allparts.

A spray with Silicone regularly should help keep the rubbers in good nick, or anything that's safe on rubber.
I seem to remember seeing some thin neoprene sleeves advertised somewhere, for shielding cable ends, can't remember where though...

Edit;
EuroCarParts - L/H cable £30+VAT, R/H £21+VAT
Allparts - L/H cable £34.50+VAT, R/H £16.75+VAT
Local Motorists Discount Centre - L/H cable £23.70 inc VAT, R/H £11.50 inc VAT (y)

I'd check that again, I think you'll find it's probably for a L/H drive model (the left one is the shorter on those).

Motorist's Discount Centre is my nearest supplier (Slough/Langley area), and are frequently a bit cheaper for the more 'regular' bits than EuroCP, Allparts, GSF, etc.
For more expensive lumps (Alternators, Throttle bodies, Starters, etc), Allparts are usually the best.
Have a search, most areas will have similar independent places like them.
