Technical Best MPG / cheaper parts - model buying advice please!

Hi folks,
Any suggestions please.....

Petrol Marea Weekend - does any particular model stand out in terms of best MPG and cheaper parts - such as exhaust clutch etc, i.e. where engine type may make a difference.

have to be the 1.6 then, everythings going to be cheaper and better fuel economy, unless your willing to go diesel

Yeah, if you're worried about cost then get a diesel.

I would have liked a diesel to replace the 1.9TD SX Tempra, but so would everyone else and that is reflected in the price they bring. The 1.6 and the 1.8 are pretty light on fuel to the point that you need to be doing 50,000 miles a year to save enough to justify the price difference. Of course you do save the planet a bit as well.

Not sure it quite needs to be 50,000miles.. Depends how long you aim to keep the vehicle. I worked out I would save over 2 years the whole cost of buying a diesel instead of running the Tipo.

Thanks for your comments folks, I'm inclined to go for a 1.6, should do the job ok for me. I tend to buy a vehicle expecting to get two years from it.
My last three motors have been 1.4 astra estates so I need a change!

Two years? Make sure you buy a Marea in a colour you like - I expect you'll be with it longer than you expect!
