I have oil seaping out of my engine whenever I stop driving.

(Looks even worse when the ground is wet and the oil speads out.)

Is there anything out there to make it stop?

I have tried the product by Greased Lightning STOP-IT; Engine and Wynns Engine Stop Leak to no evail.

err... those sort of products are usually like snake oil.

all you need to do is wipe all the oil away with a rag, then determine where it is coming from.

then if its a gasket, get it replaced. if its the sump, then get it replaced.

job done :)

A member on here (sorry can't remember your name) said that it might be leaking from my valve cover? I think it might be, because there is oil all round the seal.

I was thinking about fluorescent oil dye.

Where would I be able to purchase it from? (UK preferably)

no point mate, just clean up the engine a bit then you will easily able to identify the source.

I would clean it but I don't know what the best degreaser would be. And I can't hose it down because my hose pipe doesn't reach the car, not even close!

Gunk, or industrial degreaser, and rags, work for me. (Gunk is strong stuff in a tin in halfords) i prefer degreaser though, just watch the paintwork. its all generic anyway - buy the cheapest.

but seriously though, its as simple as cleaning all the WET oil up (on the bottom and sides of the engine) it doesnt have to be spotless.
