Hi,

I was just wondering in your mind what is the best make and model.

It's for my mum, who knows nothing about networking.

It needs to be easy to use, secure (Decent firewall) and have hardly any trouble with it.

I was looking at D-Link or Belkin.

Looking at £50, possibly more including PCIMCIA card.

Must be able to print wirelessly as well.

Thanks,

J

Ive just installed a Linksys at my GF's place with little problem, quite a good little router actually. That was £40 odd quid, but was a cable (DSL) wireless router. I also run a linksys wireless router here at home too, although it only acts as a wireless slave (as i run a dedicated DHCP server/firewall for the ADSL), so cant comment too much on its routing abilities.

Belkin's and D-Link are both quite good also, but i'd still recommend the Linksys one :) (y)

And you say print wirelessly? How is that printer connected? If its through another computer they need to have it setup to share with the network... If its on its standalone network card, the linksys still runs a wired 4 port switch, so you can have the best of both worlds (unless you can get a wireless card for the printer).

I've just bought a Belkin one off eBay, doesn't matter now.

Cheers for the advice though Luke. (y)
