Whats needed to bench test an engine?
I want to test the engine before I go ahead and fit it. I know you need fuel and connect a battery up to the starter but how do you wire in all the other stuff like coil?
Grazie:cool:

Just need a 12v supply to coil, some fuel and a bit of nerve. make sure it's strapped to something solid otherwise it'll hop out of your garage..

You can run a direct wire from the battery positive to the coil. Do not leave it attached after you turn the engine off or you may overheat and damage the coil. You also need to ground the engine to the battery negative.

Hi Paolo;
I don't know whether you have managed to 'bench-test' your engine yet, but look at (1) Fiat 500 classic engine upgrade, and (2) Abart part 2----both of thes are u-tube videos, showing 500/126 engines being bench-tested--should give you an idea of what you need.(y)
