Hi,

Sorry if this wrong place but couldnt find Panda forum, was a bit confusing, where it was.

Anyone watched WATCHDOG about the new Fiat 500 1.2 manual engine losing power, and cannot climb hills.
I purchased a Fiat 2012 Panda, new shape, and this has the same problem, it loses that much power, does not give you time to change down, and you just come to a standstill, forcing the car behind to brake.
Fiat have told Watchdog its the way people drive. I used to be a professional driver, with a Class 1 PSV, crash gear boxes, pre select gears, you name them I have driven them, driving buses and coaches till I retired. Does this mean I also cant drive, worst mistake I made purchasing one, but at the moment I cannot afford to change my car.

Is this car not dangerous, when climbing, hills. Feels like its been governed down to save fuel.

Anyone else had this problem.

Regards

Hi,

Have a look at THIS thread in the 500 section. The "problem" effects those vehicles with the euro6 1.2 engine. There are a few panda owners in the thread too.

Make sure you get yourself a coffee and some biscuits! It's a long read!

It's a legacy of tyring to get a stoneage engine to meet emission levels it was never designed for.

Ive just bought a new 1.2 panda and cant honestly see what everbody is complaining about, yes you have to give it some revs to set off up hills but its not as bad as watchdog make out above 3000rpm its fine. the engine develops 69 bhp not 169
