BattleField 2142 (Your Hardware)

ti4 series is only DX8 compatable the FX series were dx9 ect...

im running a XFX ultra 7800gtx which is highly overclocked from factory and plays battlefield 2142 no problems but then again im running dual core AMD and 2gb of corsair pro ram (has flashing leds ontop lol) also a abit faitality an8sli motherboard

thing with pc gaming you have to keep up with techology as consoles are now at same spec pcs running ect...

the fact your asking those questions means you should leave well alone.

it is easy to do, but it's just as easy to screw up.

There are various bits of software that can be used to increase core and memory speeds and mess with voltages on graphics cards, with some cards it's even possible to open pixel pipelines and enable vertex shaders that are locked out by the manufacturer (companies often produce the top end cards and lockout features and underclock them as it's a cheaper way of producing cards, rather than having seperate production lines for each individual model and slight variation in spec)

Overclocking can also be achived with custom Firmware/BIOS's for the cards.

However overclocking is a delicate process and you can find your self in trouble if you don't know what your doing, it should be done in small steps and stress tested at great lengths before increasing the speeds anymore, it can take weeks to find the fastest yet stable settings for a card, (the same goes for CPU's and Memory)

People that just rush into increasing the speeds of there components without stress testing don't know what there doing and there systems are mosly likely unstable.

500GB Hard drive
DVD multi format dual layer re-writer
512mb NVIDIA Geforce 7300se card
Windows media centre with TV tunner.

updated your gfx drivers? that could sort alot out, battlefield 2 used to recomend 1gb ram so pays to have alot of ram, decent cheapest cards u could get a 7800gt or 7900gt or an ati x850 although im not much of a fan of ati, around £150 will get u a half decent gfx card unless u want top ****** then £500 is a limit lol

Hmmm, didn't realise I have such a crappy gfx card. I believe it is as upto date as possible, but will double check. Will pm you in the new year for some more advice about this, if that is ok Gaz?

It runs fine with my ATI X850XT PE 256Mb, albeit still on an AGP slot - I got that 2nd hand on eBay

I can play for hours on BF2142, and nothing happens. Then other times, it will crash two or three times in an hour. The cras report send me the to the solution on ms website, which says to decrease my hardware acceleration, but when I tried it the gfx card didn't like it and got a load of complaints from the pc. And the game wouldn't load anyway. So now I play and pray

6600gt will have no problems at playing it thats a midrange style card and its not too old althouh its AGP not sure if itll be as good as PCI express ect...

Bro I think the Game freezes all the time cause the game coding is lousy.

MY spec is WAAAAAY Lower then yours, if FrannyBum didn't send me the card she never used I wouldnt be able to play.

My one doesn't freeze once it gets going, does exit to desktop on its first run of the session but its random.

ADD ME, me and my mate are planning to take over every server, tis hard cause we both running really under powered PC's but we should have a mad one built in the next 8 weeks providing our motors don't go up the creek or anything
