im pretty sure they do bosch 3/4/5 yr there...

ask for trade discount over the counter and sign up to the priviledge card they ALWAYS come up cheaper than ECP for me

ah bugger, they arent better than Euro. I want a 72Ah one, and AP can only do 60Ah at £60 plus vat, ill order the Euro Car Parts one, the bigger, the better....

am I missing something....just been looking online for a battery, to cmpare prices to my local motor factors. Went out to measure up. the battery I have is much smaller than the battery housing in which it sits. I looked for a battery on ebay, for my model, and it stated L278, w175 and H190...this seems way too big. Other batteries come in at the same length, but slightly smller height and width...?!

this is what id like to fit, but will it fit? Will the fuse board and wires fit back in the same place as my current battery?!

:(

ah never mind, i think i figured it out. Seems there are various sizes up to a maximum, the maximum sized one is long and tall when compared to a standard battery, but will still fit, so i should be ok, cheers!

The battery I linked to previously is the max size you will be able to fit into the Stilo battery box.

Its probabely the best you will find online for price, power, size etc ..

cheers Shady, im going for that one, or the next one down (72Ah i think), but im going to try and pick one up from a shop on Saturday, thanks for the link!

anyway battery failed me first time for a while

i thought i went pretty big last time(approx 4 years old) compared to what was on car but as you can see its will fit
i just had to modify plastic tray, as i hoped those blocks were clip in but they werent they were moulded.

also while i had the plastic tray out i saw metal tray underneath was starting to rust so gave it a quick splash of stoprust before putting plastic tray back in

we'll see how it goes now, ive never had a car so hard on batteries in my life, hopefully 64ah to 77ah will give me an extra few weeks standing without issue.

have you checked the boot light is not staying on once doors are shut?? paul

for all ( Varta) battery info, i.e sizes, cold cranking power ( most important fact, next to size), AH etc.
Remember, fitting a more powerfull battery puts more strain on the alternator...!
(I ONLY use what Varta is recommending, fed up with size/more power experiments and premature battery failure...!!)

you will not do any harm to the alternator by putting a stronger battery. it just takes a little bit longer to fully charge the battery.

It usually won't harm the alternator ( although it will run hotter...), but it will harm the battery most...!
As it will take more time for the alternator to charge a larger capacity battery, most times you are driving with an undercharged one.
Specially in winter with lights, blower rear defogger etc.
An undercharged battery will be a short lived one, it may shorten it's live by about 50%....!!
So it is absolutely of no use to fit a larger ( capacity) battery, imo at least...!
Just fit a quality battery with the highest cold cranking power, within the factory specs/dimensions is the best you can do.

Haven't been on here for a while, as the Flying Chicken has been running pretty trouble free... touch wood.

However, my battery died about a month ago during that cold snap. I got a recovery bloke around to start it, and he said it was only charging to about 25%, so I needed a quick solution. A spares place in Blackpool did me a Bosch silver 64mah battery fitted for £55. So I was only an hour late for work. That's the premium one that Halfords will sell you for 120! It's slightly higher capacity than the original battery, and with new technology has better cranking power.
The car still had its original Magnetti Marelli battery on, which lasted 8 years and 100k miles, so if the new one does as well, that'll do for me.
