hi all , yet again need help , xmas eve car starts playing up battery charge fault light first then all the other lights came on abs , airbags hazards started flashing , no speedo , thought battery was knackered but its only a year old , managed to drive there , he tested it no charge going in only showing 6 volts , so assumed alternater knackered put new one on today ( what a bloody job that is , plenty of space to get at it NOT!! ) reconnected everything put it all together managed to get it started ( battery had been on charge ) still the same thing battery charge light coming on tried driving couldnt use the lights not enough power , so still no charge
any ideas ??

:) Hi is this an ex addi lee car (black/eight seater/dvd under seat/holes in roof plugged)? If so they butchered the wire loom to fit extra bits added fuse links by the battery and behind the cubby hole under the steering wheel. Hope this helps.

yes mate it is an ex addi lee car , its been a nightmare this year things going wrong costing a fortune , might be time to get rid , i,ve seen the alterations to the wiring especially near the battery what a mess

:) just traded mine for a c4 grand picasso (nearest thing size wise to the old ulysse could not find a c8 807 good enough condition spec strange but although it had problems i wanted another to replace it!!) But anyway the "added then removed" wires could be your problem check them first before the loom. Or cheat run a "charge" wire straight to the battery? might work. I bought a repair cd via ebay but the wiring wasnt on it. Just a note if anyone wants two rear seats for a mk 2 ulysse have two just in my way free to good home

Hi just wandering what you did as ours has exactly the same problem now and have no idea where to go from here, also ours in an ex adi lee car which has been butchered. cheers

:) When i had intermitent faults/imobiliser fault etc the fusebox under the bonnet on the drivers side had water in it. Could not see this till it was taken out split open and you could see the circuit board rotting and wet. The wires next to the battery and behind the cubby hole under the steering wheel, cleaned, soldered and shrink wrapped also all the wires to the sat nav/dvd under the seat re made (unbolted the seat to get better access) This cured alot of "strange" items coming up on the display. Remarry the key and disconnecting the battery for a Reboot also became a thing of the past when these items were done. Good luck

putting a multimeter to the battery its showing nearly 12 volts , turning the engine and revving it it still shows the same so i might of been given a duff alternater HAPPY DAYS , no car all christmas and new year wot a pile of ****

:) Have you checked the alternator at the block(yes pig to get to) hook on the leads and start it up just incase the feed is not getting back to the battery? Addi lee replaced ulysse with sharons(galaxy etc) same jet black and wireloom butchering so you know what to look for!!!!!!

:) Not to sure if this is the same as the ulysse but most modern alternators have the same type of connections. The output voltage to battery bolt on ring see [ame]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/gasolinefumes/alt.jpg[/ame]
If there is volts out of alternator run a cable to the battery + this should get you moving.

yeah tested the alternater at the block getting same reading as from the battery , so me thinks new alternater ( recon ) is a dud , exciter wire is getting a feed so its not that , of course the supplier of the alternater said it must be the wiring at fault somewhere , they also said my trade in alternater was dead so if i'm still getting the same problem it points to the new alternater being duff , you say they started using sharans and galaxys , might look out for them then more reliable cars cheaper to maintain and his sell ons seem a good price , did you trade your ulysse in or sell privately , they dont seem to be going for much do they

;) I traded it (got an expected trade in price low) the person who buys it gets a good one i had fixed almost everything inc clutch and flywheel. but the glowplugs needed changing 102k on clock and pig of a job i did not want(it ran ok but a bit slow to start when cold three four cranks). But i will say it never broke down and left us stranded but it did come up with some annoying faults at the most annoying times. The c4 grand picasso just a smaller version of the same but the niggles taken out.

i had a new clutch and flywheel , new main ecu , then just usual wear and tear , brakes , tyres , now this , had the ecu chipped to increase the torque for towing the caravan , , the ecu went at easter no car for nearly 3 weeks nightmare , how much do you think i would get trade in for 54 plate with 104000 on the clock , cos its either get rid or the timing belt wants changing in the next month or so

:) Hi i got trade in offers from 2500 to 3500 depending on how overpriced the car on the forecourt was:eek:. It was clean tidy with all the sat nav a service history size of war and peace etc.In a private ad i could have seen 3000 but could not be bothered. Just one thing wasnt the cam belt changed by addi lee at 70k? Or are you running on the time scale?

yeah it was changed at 68000 , i'm just airing on the side of caution , those prices you've just given are better than i thought , been watching them on ebay a 03 plate with 130000 only managed 1770.00

Hi, I read this post with extreme interest as i have a black 53 eleganza with no end of troubles and i have been very suspicious of its history. The worst being extremely bad mpg (20-22) and a strange blue smoke coming from the deisel heater under the passenger seat when its stopped, and also has a hole plugged in the roof as well as other strange holes here and there. Probably the worst vehicle i have ever bought as no one seems to be able to shed any light on all the curious problems they all have!

Raymie

i know what you mean raymie , its the worst i've had also they do seem to be prone to problems , is it just cos its a ulysse or cos its an addi lee car , but they wewre serviced regular
