OK, well to simplify things, I have an almost new battery for my Fiat Seicento Sporting, bought just before I crashed it, the question is, can I put it into my Fiat Punto Mk1? Which currently has a battery from a Vauxhall in it (don't ask me why ).

I'm reluctant to just leave the old battery lying in the Sei when its so new, and no-one seems interested in buying it.

Apologies if the threads not in the right place, its not really a Punto question, but nor is it a Seicento question? lol.

EDIT: Mod(s) can you delete one or other of my threads please? The Forum was running extremely slowly and I ended up clicking post again thinking I'd maybe not clicked it properly.

Well there is no reason why not, if you check the capacitys of the batterys and compare them, what punto is it?

At the moment i've got my bettery out my 1.2 16v Brava in my 2.0 20v Bravo the only problem is if i dont have the engine on and run the lights, a compressor, radio, heated seats, aircon then it runs it down much quicker, as i fouind out the other day!

Was ment as a stop gap but thats been 6 months.

The punto is a 1.2 Punto 60SX (1998 reg), will check the specs of the batterys and probably move the battery over (once i've charged it up again).

Cheers,

Kev

Sei was fitted with a 002 battery rated at 40 amps with 330 cranking amps
Punto was fitted with 063 battery with 44-46 amps and 420-450 cranking amps depending if standard or premium. As you can see, the 063 is the better battery, and those extra cranking amps will come in to favour with the cold spell we are having.

Hmm ok, Thanks,

I'll need to check the current battery in the Punto and see what its cranking out and see if its better or worse than the battery in the Sei.

Well higher the number, easier for the battery to turn the engine over and will last longer. It is amps per hour as well, and tells you what it has in reserve. so checking the amps at the battery wont tell you much. Thats why big engines have big batteries. Its the reserve the battery carries. the Sei battery will soon die on a punto if it is cranked alot. I know some will say its the same engine, but the punto will draw more juice. So the battery is matched to the alternator.
