General battery and speedo problems

Hi

My 2000 Ulyesse 2.0s petrol works fine. However, if it has stood unused for more than a couple of days the battery dies. Once jump started, it runs fine and starts fine every day until it is left to stand again. I have replaced the battery but on return from holiday recently, it was dead.

Also, the speedo has a mind of its own and is now stuck at 130mph. If I disconnect and reconnect the battery it resets to 0 but then gradually creeps back up to 130 and sticks.

Hi, run through a few checks first like fluid levels in battery cells, conections on battery are clean and sound, charging system is working correctly ( under load not just when idling ). Then if these seem okay, try looking at ALL the earthing points and straps, particularly the main earth strap / cable from engine to bodywork / chassis.

I am having never ending problems with our Ulysse and these are some of the areas that other members have suggested for me to look at for similar problems.
