Hi all,

I'm trying to buy some new gas struts for the roof of my Barchetta, and this website says they have them.
The website is barely functional (search doesn't work), they don't accept Visa payment, and when they request bank transfer - there are no details visible.

Is this some fake site made in 20 minutes with no inventory that relies on people not taking the effort to chase back money through the bank?
Why would an e-commerce site in 2021 not accept Visa???

Are they legit?

Welcome to Fiat Forum.
The website does not look fradulent to me, it has full contact details and even a street address. The reason for not using credit cards is probably the high fees that they charge small businesses. PayPal is similar.
I'll ask for this to be moved to the B forum, maybe somone has used themm

I've not ordered from the site myself so I can't speak from direct experience but Henk is a well known supplier of Barchetta parts. Search does work OK for me but you need to type in your search term and then click the magnifying glass. Bear in mind that not all of the part names have a perfect translation. Here's an example of searching for 'caliper'

Henk is also active on FaceBook:

If you search the Barchetta forum with 'Henk' you'll find posts about him.

Hope that helps and welcome to the forum

Henk has been around definitely longer than 20 minutes, and has helped many of us with parts that would otherwise have to be chased in barchetta junkyards (sometimes with little hope of finding).
I have bought from Henk some years ago, he sends you an invoice with shipping costs and paypal/bank transfer details. Why he doesn't support Visa, I don't know, but I think he has a good reason for this.

Presently I don't see gas struts for softtop in his list, probably because they are available as new from major part suppliers, so there is little reason buying them used.

I got mine recently from https://www.sgs-engineering.com/

Part Numbers:
Roof GSC1280. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc1280-fiat-barchetta-roof-strut
Boot GSC1279. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc1279-fiat-barchetta-boot-strut

Ordered 2 for the roof and one for the boot, total cost was around £40 plus carriage, paid with a card and I had them in about a week

They even sent me an email after I ordered them saying that they should be fitted in pairs and I had only ordered 1 for the boot. When I explained that there is only one on the boot, they were fine.

Re the roof struts.
Have a read of the Forum "Barchetta Guides" - Removal and Replacement of Gas Struts.
You may want to up the pressure as suggested and SGS have no problem doing so.

Oh forgot - regarding the replacement of both struts.
I bought from SGS a pair of struts (not for the Barchetta) and had one fail. They replaced it under guarantee, but they did what they say on the tin, and replaced them both - without me asking.
Great.(y)
