Hi, i have a problem with my barchetta, i don't know how to explain so i recorded a video of the problem. Basicly i have a problem with rpm, when i come to a stop. Hope you know what i mean, the problem hapens at the end of the video. around 0:30 i put in 2 gear, and started ti reduce speed, and about 0:34 i pressed the clutch.

Any idea what can be the problem?

P.S. sorry if my english is bad.

daj na slovenskome... jer stvarno ne kužim kaj se desi. meni nije radil brzinomjer ali sam našel hladni lem na konektorima. zalemil, sve pošprical s onim sprejem za elektroinku i sad je ok.

This is a common problem with the barchetta and other cars. The idle control valve is faulty due to carbon build up.
Many users have 'fixed' the problem by cleaning the valve. My opinion is just to replace as the problem seems to come back soon.
I had just the same problem as yours as the car repetetly stalls when I came to a stop and pressed the clutch.
You need this item from ebay, I bought 2 weeks ago from the same seller:

Instalation takes about 2 minutes. just unplug the cable and lossen the 2 screws with hold the icv in place. Then replace using the gasket suplied.

I agree with Bollie. My B has the same issue and Ricky952 recently posted a thread about replacing the ICV. I followed Rickys advice and bought a replacement from eBay but I havent fitted it yet. I recall Ricky saying that his car was very erratic initially but soon settling down to a steady tickover.

Steve

I can quote that at first the car was making 2000rpm after instalation, but after some km it became normal. Car has a bit higher rpm when cold. Like it should be.

Thank you. Maybe this really is the problem, but i have already cleaned it and it was not better, then i replaced it with a used one from marea 1.8 and the problem is still here.
But ok, maybe both were bad, and the new from the e-bay is pretty cheap.
On fiat service they said that the new original is around 250€ (n) :D

Thanx again i hope this solves the problem :)

I can garantea you the replacement part will solve the problem.

Changing the I.C.V is the answer .
After 4 years of driving my B , I had tried cleaning it but when a certain auction site had it advertised £24 new, I purchased one and never looked back, when i first drove the car as Steve has remembered well i think the E,C,U knows i have tampered with something and adjusts to suit.(y)

Really funny how cheap this is on ebay, because i do not have paypal, i asked shops in slovenia and the cheapest price was 150€ gues i wil get paypal afterall. :D

One more problem, does anyone know where would i get this part.

My fiat dealer say it is not avaliable anymore. Is ther maybe a replacement? Or can i get an aftermarket one?

Thanks again

It comes betwen a luftmeser (dont know how to say it in English) and the gas hatch. :)
Is it possible that there is a replacement part and my dealer didnt´t see it? Maybe anyone knows the product code?

just idea... mine hose was also broken, so i create like this... i bought that 45° silicon hose from ebay for 10€... also i bought oil catch can and connect to engine vent (blue hose)

Tnx, i was thinking about that + sport filter but i have some questions :)
The luftmeser is the same as the original ? I don´t know how this work, but is tha air flow probbably is not the same as with the original filter?
And about this oil catch can, all it does is catch oil? so i just need something to collect oil, or does it have to be specialy made for this?

P.S very nice engine compartment (y)

all is original. now probably more cold air comes so better response to gas pedal (probably). and more wroooom sound, and more fuel consumption (because foot is now heavier on pedal to hear that sound). it would be good to go to reprogram car computer, but nobody knows Hitachi electronic here.

about oil catch can... there are 2 pipes that goes from engine, one to throttle body and other to... somewhere below. :D i just connect that oil can to top hose to catch only vapor. so far nothing was caught in 1 year. but oil catch can you only needed if you will create like i did because of pollution and guys at MOT (tehnički pregled) could fail you.

some say that is good that those vapors goes to throttle, some say not. it could make air intake dirty over years, but also it lubricate throttle body...

My Golf GTI used to suffer with this problem - it was scary - losing power brakes and steering on the approaches to busy roundabouts!! I cleaned the idle control valve with spray carb cleaner (which is noisy and fun to do with the engine on).

The problem always came back after a few miles.

To fix it permanently I also had to thoroughly clean the induction hose and oil catch pipe which were the source of the filth that was making the valve stick.

Matt
